Purpose of Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to effectively manage Lowe's international inbound transportation operation for the movement of import containers between ports and our distribution centers. This includes responsibility for ensuring service levels meet expectations and that necessary carrier capacity is in place to support business needs and control transportation expenses. Provide necessary support for expedited loads where needed. Manage and develop transportation team. Effectively communicate both internally and externally to provide progress reports, status changes and improvement opportunities. This position provides leadership for the international inbound transportation team and actively represents transportation in meetings with Inventory, Sourcing, and Merchandising regarding transportation issues. This position facilitates and executes proactive resolution of supply chain issues that optimize cost and service.

Responsibility Statements:

  • Procures int’l inbound carrier capacity including drayage, chassis, expedited, and storage services
  • Negotiates service contracts and service level agreements with providers
  • Manages all core KPI’s for international inbound operations
  • Responsible for int’l inbound annual operating plan and financial P&L
  • Supervises team of analysts planning and executing int’l inbound flow through supply chain network
  • Provide the leadership to identify, resolve and communicate the root cause of complex supply chain issues affecting Lowe’s transportation, logistics, inventory management, and DC’s.
  • Manages partnership with ports and marine terminal operators
  • Develops strategies to improve inbound flow efficiencies and operational effectiveness
  • Develops expedited delivery options including direct-to-store programs
  • Manages volume forecasting, carrier score carding, and operational reporting
  • Selects, develops, and retains talent to maximize team bench strength

Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
• 5 years of experience, or 8+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation or Logistics
• 3 plus years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility

Preferred Education/Experience:
• 4+ years’ transportation management experience
